Niren And Aditi Chaudhary Called Up Shonali Bose To Not Use Their Names In The Sky Is Pink- EXCLUSIVE
Niren And Aditi Chaudhary- parents of Aisha, were initially sceptical to to give a go-ahead to the makers of The Sky Is Pink, to use their names in the film
Having watched The Sky Is Pink twice already, I still reiterate the fact that this one deserves to be sent to Oscars as India’s official entry. Filmmaker Shonali Bose has put her soul into the film.
When I interviewed the lady, time just flew swiftly and it turned out to be an endearing chat. The film, which is based on the real-life story of the Chaudharys and the hardships they dealt with after the loss of their daughter, Aisha, deserved to have the real names of the family members.
So, we were keen to know if Chaudharys- Niren and Aditi were comfortable in the beginning with the idea of the world knowing that it’s their story on celluloid. Well, the parents were sceptical initially, but eventually agreed. While they were okay with the thought of Aisha's name being used in the film, they weren't keen to use their names.
Elaborating on the same, Shonali told us, “Till days before we began shooting for the film, they (Niren-Aditi) had decided that their names can't be used. So, when I started writing, it was their names, then when Siddharth Roy Kapur (producer) said ‘Yes’ they realised that this film is actually going to be made; they said 'Naam badal do’ because our families will see the film. So, I changed the names, and was very upset about it. We tried to convince them but nothing helped. And then, just one week before we were to start shooting, Niren told me that he is ready to go ahead with their names. He convinced Aditi and finally, they allowed us to retain their names in the movie.”
